We have a group of radical lunatics with goals of American primacy and empire, who openly state that their radical goals would not be accepted without some sort of catastrophic and catalyzing event like a new Pearl Harbor. Then these same people are in charge of protecting us from such an event when one just happens to occur and nobody in the media thinks that this is worth checking in to? If your local police chief had spoken publicly about the fact that he can get more funding for his department if there was a child molestation problem, and then suddenly there was a rash of child molestations where there had NEVER been any before, would you suspect something here? Gannongate is reminiscent of a huge political scandal that surfaced in Nebraska in 1989 when it was learned that Lawrence King, the head of Franklin Community Credit Union in Omaha and a rising African American star in the GOP (he sang the national anthem at George H. W. Bush’s 1988 nominating convention in New Orleans), was a kingpin, along with top Republicans in Nebraska and Washington, DC, including George H. W. Bush, in a child prostitution and pedophilia scandal. King was later convicted and jailed for fraud but pedophile and prostitution charges were never brought against him and other Nebraska Republican businessmen and politicians.

The scandal, investigated by Nebraska State Senator Loran Schmit, his assistant John DeCamp (a former GOP State Senator), State Senate Committee investigator Gary Caradori, and former CIA Director William Colby, reached the very top echelons of the George H. W. Bush administration and GOP. Child prostitutes from Boys Town and other orphanages in Nebraska as well as children procured from China were reportedly flown to Washington for sexcapades with Republican politicians. GOP lobbyist Craig Spence and a number of GOP officials in the administration and Congress were implicated in the scandal, including Labor Secretary Elizabeth Dole’s liaison to the White House. Young male members of the military in Washington, DC were particularly sought after by the prostitution ring. During the early 1980s, a number of naval officers were implicated in a child pornography ring that extended from Oregon to the San Francisco Bay area and to Chicago and Washington, DC. The story about that ring was covered up by then-Secretary of the Navy John Lehman.

The Nebraska pedophile scandal was similarly covered up on orders from the highest levels of power in the Bush White House. Caradori and his young son were killed in a suspicious plane crash in Illinois in 1990. Colby was found floating dead in the Chesapeake Bay, near his home, in 1996. Craig Spence allegedly committed suicide in 1989. Witnesses, many of whom were abused themselves, were intimidated and subsequently jailed in Nebraska and the investigation of the pedophile scandal eventually collapsed. The entire military aspect of the King-Spence scandal is now being repeated in Washington in Gannongate.

Investigators looking into a connection between al-Qaeda and Taylor determined that terrorists were active in the region for at least two months before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York City and the Pentagon. The Washington Post reported that the investigators believe that Taylor, Liberia's dictator, received a $1 million payoff for harboring the terrorists. The Canadian armaments industry – backed energetically by the Canadian government – reveals the extent to which a secret, private corporate system has enormous influence in Canadian life and policy. It reveals how parliamentarians lie to Canadians and how subservience to the U.S. is welcomed and encouraged by parliamentarians serving private corporations. Finally, it is proof of what might be called a “pact of fraudulence” that contributes to death and destruction around the world.Even opposition parties avoid confronting the issue head on, becoming complicit in murder of the innocent all over the planet. At home they are complicit in sinking Canada deeper into subservience to expansionist policies. And there’s more….
We should look at the issue in its simplest terms, first to see how a phrase like “The New Fascism” is not extreme or extravagant in relation to Canada’s armaments trade. A huge network of armament production almost unknown to Canadian voters is in operation. The Canadian government secretly supports and facilitates the activity that could not continue if the whole population was informed about it. The activity very largely contributes to U.S. actions that subvert elected governments, undertake illegal wars, violate international law, and are contemptuous of international conventions.



One of its most grisly aspects is the use of the Canada Pension Plan as an investment purse to tie the Plan to the armaments industry by investing large and frequent sums in the armaments industry and armaments sale. In 2003 the CPP involved itself in 120 military corporations of which 90 were in the USA. Sanders writes that Canadians, thereby, became unwitting partners “in international war crimes, entrapped largely without [their] knowledge….” The activity of the CPP managers must be seen as political. The Canada Pension Plan could exist, could profit, could maintain generous viability without investment in weapons and associated production. The question may fairly be asked, then, if investment from CPP is intended to further involve Canadians in a very complicated support of (especially) U.S. military policy.

New Law slated to install Police State in Canada

Connie Fogal, Leader of the Canadian Action Party (CAP) says 'No' to a new federal law that gives police and national security agencies extended powers to eavesdrop on cellphone calls and monitor internet activities of Canadians. Fogal says it is a violatioan of Canadian rights guaranteed in the Constitution and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It is bringing back reminiscences of Hitler who imposed the same kind of liberty-stripping on the German people, who didn't know what had hit them until it was too late to say no! As Vancouver alderman Harry Rankin says, "If you want justice, go to church, not to the courts. The courts are there to apply the law created by politicians."

Harry Rankin is clearly Canadian, and the "justice" applicable to churches in his comment is that of Tommy Douglas a former pastor, and the man responsible for our health care program in Canada. In no way is it applicable to the blasphemous travesty of justice called the religious right in the USA. Tommy Douglas became a politician when he saw striking miners framed by the corporation ( who claimed they were rioting), then beaten and even killed by the local police in Saskatchewan. He must be looking down wondering when on earth we will ever wake up. Joining a coup with the USA and France to overthrow an elected government in Haiti and aid in fomenting civil war hasn't seemed to raise a pulse, and Martin arbitrarily signing away Canada to the USA without passing it by parliament hasn't raised a public outcry either.
So it is not surprising that when Harper provided Bush with his own personal $450 Million dollar slush fund courtesy of the Canadian lumber industry that it was not even reported on CBC.

I think we need, as a start, to buy and own our own broadcasting firm and take back the public airwaves.

I suspect once we get in and look at the books that every Prime Minister since Mulroney's sell out of Canada, has been owned lock stock and barrel by a criminal corporate coup. Look at the USA and we have the same thing. BOTH countries have grown more and more fascist since Reagan and Mulroney. Reagan had Alzheimers while in office and could read a teleprompter, but the ol Neo Cons were already at work. Cheney AND Rumsfeld were laying the groundwork then. Ever since that time we have watched the systematic destruction of the Canadian Health Care Plan, and increasing numbers of people who are mentally handicapped flung on the street.

They are NOT part of the fascist agenda where GOD is Greed Oppression and Denial.

Tommy Douglas was a man who, like Jesus, believed in helping the poor, while Harper's hymn is one of cold calculating cynicism, his corporate hymnal based on the same cool aid cult as the the Bush league boss he calls, "his shining light."

According to Time magazine, after Bush’s re-election, a group of evangelicals, not surprisingly known as “The Arlington Group,” wrote Karl Rove a letter signed by former presidential candidate Gary Bauer, Don Wildmon, Focus on the Family’s James Dobson, Paul Weyrich and Jerry Falwell demanding that Bush not waver and support a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. Rove is a key Fellowship asset in the White House. Often whistling “Onward Christian Soldiers” in the halls of the White House, Rove was credited with turning out millions of fundamentalist voters in the 2004 presidential election. Rove also managed to turn out hundreds, if not thousands, of evangelical and fundamentalist election “fixers,” who ensured that Democratic votes were suppressed, miscounted, undercounted, discounted, and not counted.

Blackwell, who, as a former Deputy Undersecretary of HUD, was well versed in the art of distributing Bush political slush fund money and ensured that this was distributed far and wide in Ohio. This money is what Republican strategist Ed Rollins once called “walking around money” – money used by Republicans in New Jersey’s elections to pay off African American preachers to turn out the vote for their candidates. In Ohio, this tactic paid off in polling places in churches. Instead of turning out the vote, some local preachers, white and black, aided and abetted in suppressing the vote. One of Blackwell’s closest friends is fundamentalist preacher Ron Parsley of World Harvest Church.
At the New Life fundamentalist church in the Gahanna District of Columbus, machines tallied 4258 votes for Bush when only a total of 628 votes were cast. Similar chicanery and racketeering occurred throughout Ohio and in other states during the vote tabulation and recounting processes. Two of the voting machine companies contracted by Ohio are headed by people who are conservative Republican partisans – Walden O’Dell, the CEO of Diebold of Columbus and the Rapp family that runs Triad Government Systems of Xenia, Ohio. Both brand of machines caused election problems.
For example, several churches in Mahoning County, Ohio were the scenes of voting irregularities. They include:

Price Memorial Zion Church, Precinct 2E, Youngstown (voters were given confusing information and many elderly voters were told their polling place had changed, also voters voting for Kerry had their votes switched to Bush).

Spanish Evangelical Church, Precinct 2A, Youngstown, machines inoperative and switched votes from Kerry to Bush.

Elizabeth Baptist Church, Precinct 2C, Youngstown, one voting machine failed to record votes properly.

Tabernacle Baptist Church, Precinct 3C, Youngstown, one machine failed to record votes.

Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Precinct 5F, Youngstown, one touch screen machine broken the other erased votes.

St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church, Boardman, first two attempts to vote for Kerry go to Bush, third attempt records vote for Kerry. Poll worker brushes off complaints.

St. Nicholas Byzantine Church, Youngstown, machine records Kerry votes for Bush.

The skimming of votes in Mahoning County was replicated across the state. Ohio’s 20 electoral votes were delivered to George W. Bush just like manna from the heavens. For the fundamentalists who took part in the fraud, the “Christian” ends were definitely justified by the Machiavellian ways.

(With this level of success you can bet our boy Stephen Harper is rushing to get Diebold installed in Canada).
Bill Moyers recently wrote that “for the first time in our history, ideology and theology hold a monopoly of power in Washington.” Ever since Abraham Vereide, a misguided immigrant to this country who brought very un-American ideas of Nazism and Fascism with him in his steamer trunk, the so-called “Christian” Right has long waited to take the biggest prize of all – the White House. Moyers correctly sees the Dominionists or “End Timers” as being behind the invasion of Iraq. He cites the Book of Revelation that states, “four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates will be released to slay the third part of man.” Such words may have their place in Sunday School and in church halls but using such thinking to launch wars of convenience or religious prophecy have no place in our federal and democratic republic. Moyers also rightly sees fundamentalist thought behind Bush’s “faith-based initiatives” and the rolling back of environmental regulations.

Hundreds of millions of people around the world no longer feel the United States is a country that can be trusted. They feel the people who run the affairs of state are out of control and dangerous. Considering the hold the Fellowship and their like-minded ilk have on the United States (and some of its allies) they are correct in their fears.

"Would Jesus lie to the world to justify an attack on another nation, the killing of now over 100,000 Iraqis? No, certainly not, but that is what George W. Bush did and then lied to get the Christian vote."





I am an ecumenical Christian that believes that one of the most important things that God requires of me is the use of discernment. In that I mean, I am required to pay attention, use critical thinking to see things as they are, not as someone tells me to believe they are. The Bible tells me to “recognize them by their fruits” and when those fruits are evil the person behind them is evil too.







I see many Christians that blindly follow what their pastor tells them to do, even when that pastor might be dead wrong or the counsel seriously tainted maybe even to the point of being “advice of commission of sin”. I think and as a Christian believe that such blind obedience is dangerous and sinful.
Hitler professed his Christianity to justify his actions, so need I say more that not all that use the claim are worthy of using it? I did not support or vote for Bush Cheney because I clearly see them as fascists and arrogance of power wrapped up in a false Christianity. I see glee in death and destruction as they and their friends plunder this world for billions and trillions in present and future monies.

Food for Thought

A Zimbabwe politician has been quoted as saying that children should study this year's U.S. election closely, because it shows that election fraud is not only a third world phenomenon. In that spirit, consider the recent proceedings from a slightly different perspective:


1. Imagine that we read of an election occurring anywhere in the third world in which the self-declared winner was the son of the former prime minister and that former prime minister was himself the former head of that nation's secret police (CIA).














2. Imagine that the self-declared winner lost the popular vote but won based on some colonial holdover(electoral college) from the nation's past.













3. Imagine that the self-declared winner's 'victory' turned on disputed votes cast in a province governed by his brother.





4. Imagine that the poorly drafted ballots of one district, a district heavily favoring theself-declared winner's opponent, led thousands of voters to vote for the wrong candidate.

5. Imagine that members of that nation's most despised caste, fearing for their lives/livelihoods, turned out in record numbers to vote in near-universal opposition to the self-declared winner's candidacy.

6. Imagine that hundreds of members of that most-despised caste were intercepted on their way to the polls by state police operating under the authority of the self-declared winner's brother.

7. Imagine that six million people voted in the disputed province and that the self-declared winner's 'lead' was only 300 votes. Fewer, certainly, than the vote counting machines' margin of error.

8. Imagine that the self-declared winner and his political party opposed a more careful by-hand inspection and re-counting of the ballots in the disputed province or in its most hotly disputed district.

9. Imagine that the self-declared winner was himself the governor of a major province, which had the worst human rights record of any province in his nation and which actually led the nation in executions.

10. Imagine that a major campaign promise of the self-declared winner was to appoint like-minded human rights violators to lifetime positions on the high court of that nation. Few of us would deem such an election to be representative of anything other than the self-declared winner's will-to-power. All of us, I imagine, would wearily turn the page thinking that it was another sad tale of pitiful pre- or anti-democracy peoples in some strange elsewhere.
