USA - Sixty Years of Lies is Long Enough

U.S. corporations traded with Nazi Germany throughout WWII. Yes, while Dad was fighting on the beaches or stuck in some hell hole in hand to hand combat, the good ol boys of commerce were trading their ass off with the enemy.

Unfortunately while many were being tried at Nuremberg,as Saddam Hussein will soon be tried in Iraq, the U.S. corporations who sold weapons and the intelligence agencies who funded war crimes and profited from trading with the enemy - went free. They went free to repeat the same crimes in Viet Nam, Iraq, Iran, South America, all around the world. Heavens there are documents in the National Archives which never saw the light day during the last Presidential campaign in America. Documents that clearly show, during WWII the Bush family had assets seized "for trading with the enemy." Holocaust survivors in Germany have launched a law suit against the Bush's for profiting on the proceeds of Auschwitz and the information does not even hit TV prime time in "free" America.

Americans are fed a corporate owned propagandized "news" which is nothing but a limited view of the world FROM America. Americans largely have no idea how their corporations behaved in WWI, WWII, or now. Many refuse to see or find out.

The WORLD is growing very weary of the Bush Brownie mantra that America is bringing "freedom" to the world, while there is martial law throughout most of the south and an already disenfranchised black voter is further displaced and moved from state to state by hurricanes. (How convenient come voting time, you won't have those pesky black voters lining up to vote at another convenient polling station of one machine to ten million HUMAN beings. If you want to look at racial inequality check out the voting machine assignments per jurisdiction).

The truth is that a number of prominent American families and businesses profited handsomely from Hitler's slave camps, and even sold the gas that exterminated Jews, homosexuals, and anyone else they wanted exterminated. Today they pose behind a facade of decency. As if wearing an expensive suit and having an estate could wash the blood from their hands or their predisposition to murder would stop genetically with that one generation. No, it continues and as long as we insist on keeping our eyes closed we will send our children to die for them.

Being conscious is painful, yet I suspect a requirement, and perhaps the entire reason for one's existence.

According to accepted history, it was an inevitable war forced upon a peaceful people thanks to a surprise attack by a sneaky enemy. This war, then and now, has been carefully and consciously sold to us as a life-and-death battle against pure evil. For most Americans, WWII was nothing less than good and bad going toe-to-toe in khaki fatigues.

But, Hollywood aside, John Wayne never set foot on Iwo Jima. Despite the former president's dim recollections, Ronald Reagan did not liberate any concentration camps. And, contrary to popular belief, FDR never actually got around to sending our boys "over there" to take on Hitler's Germany until after the Nazis had already declared war on the US first.

American lives weren't sacrificed in a holy war to avenge Pearl Harbor nor to end the Nazi Holocaust. WWII was about territory, power, control, money, and imperialism. What we're taught about the years leading up to the Good War involves the alleged appeasement of the Third Reich. If only the Allies were stronger in their resolve, the fascists could have been stopped. Having made that mistake once, the mantra goes, we can't make it again.

After WWII, the CIA imported Nazi Gestapo officers to work in the CIA (run a search, the information is in the National Archives of the USA) saving a number from prosecution.

Today,we have a shrill George W. Bush screaming for the prosecution of Saddam Hussein for war crimes. A war crime, presumably committed with chemical weapons sold to him by the U.S.A. - by one Donald Rumsfeld.

We hear nothing of the School of Americas, the infamous TERROR TRAINING SCHOOL in the USA where people are trained go back to South America and be part of death squads and create insurrection in other countries (largely for profit and often in drug running CIA ops).

While the nine BILLION dollars that the GOP lost as their component in the "oil for food scandal" is of course completely unmentioned in their report on the UN. (This group could make Goering blush).

Sixty years of lies is enough. The U.S.A. has operated a corporate coup for the past few years under George W. Bush. It is time to make some arrests and have the appropriate war criminal trials. Statesmen and stateswomen are no longer in office. These are paid off criminals delivering a socialized welfare state for business. If the USA is to regain ANY credibility in the WORLD this treason MUST be prosecuted.

Corporate Coup Profits in Death 911, Iraq, Katrina

Greetings delicious dykes of the world, and others. Well its a mad, mad world isn't it.

Most days I feel like I am living in a parallel universe, with (the USA side of the border) a loud, vocal minority of people spouting God and Jesus as their leaders, while being the most criminal, evil, hate-filled group we have seen in some time. Their placed President the Diebold Deceit of 2004 and his crime-laden family (false masks of "decency") to the camera, still pretend a semblance of sanity.

Last night TV Comedian, Jay Leno said, "The National Inquirer says Bush is drinking again! Ha ha ha...well hey, maybe it will HELP. Look at what he has done sober. Surely he can't screw it up any worse?"

Still, Bush is only the puppet president to a corporate coup, and the stock shorting scandal around 911 is gathering storm once again. ( The CIA stock trading program is used to manipulate markets all over the world, why not at home?)

One thing is certain this aspect of 911 has NEVER been properly investigated by an INDEPENDENT counsel,not in Bush's hip pocket or the Saudis. (The head of the 911 commission was a business partner of the Bin Laden family while at Amoco. Yet never recused himself for conflict of interest, anymore than Judge Scalia (Election 2000) did on the Supreme Court while his son was a campaign manager for Bush).

Tom Flocco, an investigative reporter, who has been the first off the mark to announce that indictments are pending against Bush, has an article at American Free Press, which addresses the CIA insider trading speculation currently buzzing anew.

There is growing evidence that the FBI and other government intelligence entities are closely linked to the pre-Sept. 11 insider trading profits. But thus far the Joint Congressional Intelligence Committee has not publicly referred to prior knowledge of the attacks related to stock transaction profits.

The secret congressional meeting has also failed, after nine months, to publicize the critical Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) “control list” report which traced the alleged insider stock trading.

CIA spokesman Tom Crispell denied that the intelligence agency was monitoring “real-time,” pre-9-11 stock trading activity within U.S. borders using such software as the Prosecutor’s Management Information System (PROMIS) or the Echelon satellite monitoring system.

However, when asked whether the CIA had been scrutinizing world financial markets for national security purposes, Crispell said: “I have no way of knowing what operations are [being affected by our assets] outside the country.”

Given 3,000 deaths, victim family lawyers may want to know.

A Houston Chronicle report Jan. 23 revealed that Enron Corporation’s top security team, including four former CIA officers and an ex-FBI agent, left the company to form a private firm, Secure Solutions Inter national (SSI), while continuing with Enron as consultants.

John W. Presley, the FBI agent now heading SSI, could not be reached for comment. But the team probed a “variety of allegations of fraud and other kinds of rule-breaking by Enron workers,” the Chronicle said.

Team member and former CIA agent David M. Cromley’s business biography at Enron listed him as Enron’s director of business analysis, the paper reported, adding that Cromley gave Enron executives “detailed and unique information” allowing them to make “investments, sales of assets, joint ventures and [financial] products.”

From the President's Daily Briefing (August, 2001) entitled "Bin Laden Threatening to Attack America", to ordering Ashcroft and various others "NOT to fly", shortly prior to 9/11" - the administration has shown knowledge PRIOR to the attacks and criminal negligence in not alerting the public, or ordering the military on alert in major cities. The Bush Brownies went on to escort 300 Saudis from the country in executive jets and when congress attempted to compare passenger lists with terror watch lists, the Bush Administration classified the flight lists.

So after finding out convicted criminal, Poindexter and his wingnuts,were building a terror betting system within DOD, one would think that the congress would have been particularly interested in the 9/11 stock shorting story, no so.

It just became another file of evidence in a mountain of facts about this criminal, abusive, treasonous presidency, congress and supreme court.

Ah yes we want freedom, especially from an abusive conspiracy between the religous right money laundering machine and the corporate coup in office. Profiting from death is hardly a principle of divinity anymore than it is to cover up the number of poor, mutilitated and dead from the Iraq war.

Shine light on the darkness angels, shine the light. Together we will simply stand and say - no more, not now - not ever.

Bush's Brownie Broadcasting System

Before I became too depressed watching the Bush oligarchy repeat history, I was researching material for a book about women who worked for British intelligence and the French Resistance against the Nazi occupation of France during WWII.

After the first war to end all wars, WWI, Germany (the aggressor) was broke and weighted down with reparation payments to all the major countries of Europe,in particular France. How could Germany build itself up in such a short period of time to not only become a world power but to start invading countries at will?

As I investigated further I became more and more horrified. Here within the dusty pages of history was the trail of American investment in Germany, in particular with Hitler, German banks and American banks linked directly to the Bush family, and various other prominent American families. The U.S. National Archive confirms the Bush family had assets seized for "trading with the enemy" and they had continued their trade throughout the desperate Battle of Britain. I suddenly knew why my ninety year old aunt wanted to throw a chair through a TV set everytime some American claimed the U.S.A. had single-handedly "won" WWII, the last good war.

Warmongering Media

Black Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney is a truth-teller. Her reputation for honesty and accuracy has been confirmed many times over since she sounded the alarm about the lies of the Bush regime regarding the events of 9/11. But Congresswoman McKinney can’t get a word in edgewise with her hometown newspaper, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The paper pretended to cover a day-long congressional briefing on 9/11, back in July, and came away describing the proceedings as consisting of “conspiracy theories.” This, despite the fact that witnesses included 9/11 family members, former intelligence and government workers, whistleblowers and academic experts. Nobody at the briefing charged that the Bush people knew about the 9/11 attacks in advance. Neither has Congresswoman McKinney. But the Atlanta Journal-Constitution made it seem like they did. This is not journalism. It is slander. And lies. The point made by the men and women at the briefing was that government officials and agencies failed to heed clear warnings that an attack on U.S. targets was imminent. Rather than report the congressional briefing like professionals, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution held the participants up to ridicule.

That’s a standard tactic of the U.S. news media, which is really not about news, at all. Just smiling faces with quips and jokes, making fun of the rest of the world on television, and snide, self-satisfied state propagandists holding down newspaper jobs, sneering at anyone who is not hooked up in the power grid. If the role of journalists is to make power accountable, then there is virtually no journalism going on in the United States. That is, no journalism that reaches the masses of the people. Americans are left deaf, blind and dumb to the world around them. This would be sad, if it only affected the population of the United States. But the U.S. is the sole remaining super-power, and the disappearance of journalism means that the criminals in power in Washington can convince the public that up is down, day is night, and hot is cold. Television and the newspapers will not challenge them, and as a consequence, the Bush men are free to wage war against whoever they choose, under any pretense they can conjure up. They can lie at will. Citizens who point out the lies are ignored, or made to look insane, or worse.

Harry Belafonte, the great singer and activist, has been harshly criticized for comparing George Bush to Hitler. I’m going to take it even further. The U.S. corporate media is more dangerous than the Nazi propaganda machine, which was state owned. The German people knew that the German government managed the news. They could take it or leave it. But the U.S. corporate media is pervasive, it is everywhere, with hundreds of channels of propaganda, virtually all of them repeating the same government lies, while claiming to be independent of the government. The corporate media are engaged in a monstrous scam. They are the megaphones of war, just as guilty as the warmongers in Washington. If there are ever war crimes trials in the future, the corporate media should also be under the harshest indictment. Department of Disasters (by design)

A couple of years ago the public became more than a bit disturbed to find that convicted felon John Poindexter, of Contra infamy, was working at DOD (Dept. of "Defense") creating a terror prediction system. (Such a deal, with death squads, control of the CIA and Bush in office they can control the market from end to end.)

Want to bet on when the King of Jordan will be assassinated? No problem - play the government developed "game" to predict (when the land of free and home of the brave will commit) terror in another country.

True enough Poindexter was forced to resign and the program (we were told) was dis-continued. You will find that is not so. It has simply been re-located within DOD and re-named.

“We must become much more efficient and more clever in the ways we find new sources of data,” said retired Admiral John Poindexter, head of the government’s controversial Terror Information Awareness program (TIP). But U.S. Senators Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., argued publicly and vociferously the past couple of days that Poindexter had gone beyond clever to the absurd with “Policy Analysis Market” (PAM), a TIP project ostensibly designed to predict terrorist events through the online selling of “futures” in terrorist attacks.

The Senators may indeed have won their short, brisk battle to shut down the federal Web site before the first “trade” flashed across the digital board. Armed Services Committee Chairman John Warner, R-Va., said Tuesday afternoon that he got the word from the head of the Pentagon agency overseeing the program that it would “stop all engines on this matter today.”

Before a sudden abridgment of the Web site this week, some of the possibilities the PAM Web site advised it would offer for sale when it went active and accessible were the overthrow of the King of Jordan, the assassination of Yasser Arafat, and a missile attack by North Korea. Bidders would profit if the events for which they hold futures -- including government coups, assassinations and missile attacks -- occur.

According to a report in the N.Y. Times, however, soon after Dorgan and Wyden spoke out, the White House altered the Web site so that the potential events to be considered by the market that were visible earlier in the day at www.policyanalysismarket.org could no longer be seen. By the end of business Tuesday, NewsMax found the site gone from the Internet.

Instead of the former specifics, the abridged Web site stated only, “Initially, PAM will focus on the economic, civil, and military futures of Egypt, Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Turkey and the impact of U.S. involvement with each.”

DARPA

Formerly known as Total Information Awareness (TIA), the program comes under the auspices of the Department of Defense’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). TIP chief Poindexter is known for his 1991 conviction for perjury in testimony to Congress about his involvement in the Iran-Contra affair.

In a letter to Poindexter, Dorgan and Wyden said they would advocate against any funding for such a program, and told him they want the Policy Analysis Market stopped now.

“The example that you provide in your report would let participants gamble on the question, ‘Will terrorists attack Israel with bio-weapons in the next year?’ Surely, such a threat should be met with intelligence gathering of the highest quality -- not by putting the question to individuals betting on an Internet website,” the Senators wrote.

“Spending taxpayer dollars to create terrorism betting parlors is as wasteful as it is repugnant. The American people want the Federal government to use its resources enhancing our security, not gambling on it,” the Senators added.

The Policy Analysis Market (PAM) and the FutureMAP program, which was slated to follow PAM, would have worked much like other financial markets, with investors buying “futures” in events they think are likely to happen, and selling off futures as they believe events become less likely to happen.

On-line training was scheduled to begin for registered traders on September 1, 2003. Live trading was scheduled to begin on October 1, 2003."

The corporate owned media don't mention this much anymore or talk about what happened to the programs that Poindexter was working on. But then the corporate owned media is as Jon Stewart describes them: "like kids pouncing on a ball.....then another ball comes along and they pounce on that...with virtually no follow through on the story...unless it is Michael Jackson, or Kobe Bryant or some other personal exploitation to distract from the current political crisis."

Airline stock was shorted over 911 and the story fell right off the corporate radar screens. I am now wondering if that was not a trial run of the DOD system...so I am off to check it out.

Making the Illegal, Legal

The Bush Administration has a habit of making that which is currently illegal - legal,so they will not be prosecuted for breaking the law or behaving as war criminals.

Since Rummies Reich were about to behave as war criminals in Iraq (starting an illegal, immoral war), they opted out of the International Court and began a propaganda campaign against other countries who opposed them. They PLANNED to torture, abuse, rape and create slave camps so they opted out of the Geneva convention.

They needed to raise distrust against the UN through the "oil for food scandal" - but never once mentioned the NINE BILLION lost by the U.S.A. in the same fraud.

They wail about Saddam Hussein's genocide with chemical weapons, never once mentioning they (legendary photo of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam to seal the deal) sold the weapons to Saddam.

Finally the U.S. Govt issues an annual human rights report for the world. The report covers all the human rights abuses OF OTHER COUNTRIES, never ONCE mentioning the 40 million living in abject poverty within the U.S.A.,or the fact that there are more human beings incarcerated per capita within the USA than anywhere else in the world.

Yes the Bush Administration does ONE thing well. Point the finger elsewhere whenever they are asked to be accountable - then they legalize that which was illegal.

ominously titled research report in August, 1996: Weather as a Force Multiplier: Owning the Weather in 2025.

Eastland, who soon became president of ARCO's Production Techno- logies
International Company in Houston, proposed burning the vast Alaskan gas
fields to power a huge electric generator. The resulting power would be
directed into a huge antenna complex, 40 miles on a side. The antennae
would be used to focus an intense beam of electro- magnetic energy into the
upper atmosphere where it would collide with the ionosphere to create a
phenomenon called the "mirror force." Eastland was granted a US Patent (#
4,686,605) for this invention on August 11, 1987.

"You can virtually lift part of the upper atmosphere," Eastland told OMNI,
"You can make it move, do things to it." One of the tricks Eastland
envisioned involved "surgically" distorting the ionosphere to disrupt
global communications. Pushing the upper atmosphere around might also
generate high-altitude "drag" that could heat and deflect enemy missiles or
surround them with "high-energy electrons" that might cause the missiles to
detonate in mid-trajectory.

The proposal appealed to the Pentagon, which invested several hundred
thousand dollars "evaluating" Eastland's work. Eastland maintained that
there were "peaceful" uses for his technology. In one scenario, he
explained how beams of electromagnetic power could lift portions of the
upper atmosphere and redirect the jetstream to alter global weather
patterns. Using "plumes of atmospheric particles to act as a lens or
focusing device," Eastland proposed redirecting sunlight and heat to
different parts of the Earth's surface, making it possible to manipulate
wind patterns, cause rainstorms in Ethiopia, drive hurricanes out of the
Caribbean, incinerate airborne industrial pollution and sew up the hole in
the Antarctic ozone layer.

"HAARP is the perfect first step towards a plan like
mine," Eastlund says. "Advances in phased-array transmitter technology and
power generation can produce the field strength required. The government
will say it isn't so, but if it quacks like a duck and it looks like a
duck, there's a good chance it is duck." "Eastlund is nuts," says an Air
Force official speaking on condition of anonymity. "HAARP is much smaller
and less powerful than his instrument. We are not doing anything except
good science and pure research. "The real beauty of HAARP," he then adds
cryptically, "is that nothing you can see on the outside is sensitive. The
secret is the beam steering agility and pulsing of the transmissions...
When covert operations occur, the science team, the operating funds and the
mission will be black."

No indeed. This HAARP is not played by angels, nor is it governed by anything approaching conscience, integrity and honor. This GOD is an acronym for Greed Oppression and Denial, no more - no less.

He asserts that energy for hurricanes comes from the ionosphere, and that the eye of a hurricane is actually an electric field. He indicates that hurricanes can occur over cold water too, citing the "Perfect Storm" off the New England coast of 1991.

He claims to have helped develop the science that makes it possible that satellite guided lasers can be used to ionize the path in front of a hurricane for the purpose of steering it to an intended landfall. He states that originally this technology was intended to steer hurricanes AWAY from populated areas so as to MINIMIZE the damage they do, but he asserts that with Katrina, it was horribly misused for evil purposes.

He asserts that his scientific papers were translated into Russian by Russian scientists who then gave our government information about weather manipulation so that we could use it to PROTECT ourselves from hurricanes since they don't occur in Russia, but do occur in US waters.Further, that this technology makes it possible to drag hurricanes around by the lip, describing how - just before the hurricane would have hit New Orleans, it made a 90 degree turn prior to landfall, which steered it directly into oil refineries EAST of New Orleans off the Mississippi coast.

He asserts that the pattern of levvy breaches around New Orleans indicates that explosives were used to blow them - citing the official explanation that they were caused by a storm surge didn't add up because breaches occurred on the River side and on the Canal side of the city (away from Lake Ponchartrain). He states that when the levvy's broke, the storm surge had ALREADY OCCURRED the day BEFORE. He flat out accuses FEMA of being responsible for blowing the levees. While there is no proof of that, it would be consistent with their OTHER actions which were clearly more geared towards establishing government CONTROL over the city than to save lives.

He asserts that this UN Resolution only makes it illegal to use weather modification technology to attack ANOTHER COUNTRY but that it DID NOT make it illegal to use against YOUR OWN PEOPLE.

He asserts that our own SPACE COMMAND at NASA has the ability to steer hurricanes, and flat out states that this just happened with Katrina.

He also stated that he feels it is highly likely that ADDITIONAL contrived events will occur for the purpose of triggering martial law in the USA.

At the time he did this radio show, Hurricane Rita didn't yet exist, but it sure does now, and its heading for Houston Texas and all the oil refineries there.

I guess we do have to paint a picture.

When the Army Controls the Weather & Halliburton Does the Clean up

Watching hurricanes swirl in off the coast of the USA I have this tremendous feeling of having been here before...watching a repeat movie from oh, Nixon's era, or Reagan's ..or any of the other eras of corporate criminal negligence that periodically erupt in the USA, creating incredible damage to the country (and the world).

My memory still seems to be intact in some areas and I can remember the U.S. and Russian military claiming to have the ability to seed storm clouds ...oh as far back as the fifties. A quick search revealed a number of worthwhile articles but one in particular from Utne Reader, by investigative reporter Bob Fitrakis. He states:


The military is not attempting to hide its long-term goals. "Weather is a Force Multiplier: Owning the Weather in 2025" is a white paper that can be found on a Pentagon-sponsored website. The paper’s abstract reads: "In 2025, U.S. aerospace forces can ‘own the weather’ by capitalizing on emerging technologies and focusing development of those technologies towards fighting applications. Such a capability offers the war fighters tools to shape the battle space in ways never before possible… In the U.S., weather modification will likely become a part of national security policy with both domestic and international applications."

Wired magazine wrote about the paper and extensively quoted physicist Bernard Eastlund in its January 2000 article "Activate Cloud Shield! Zap a Twister!" The article detailed the military’s plan for "made-to-order thunderstorms" and "lightning strikes on demand."

Eastlund managed programs for Controlled Thermal Nuclear Research for the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission from 1966 to 1974; he was a key researcher in the 1980s’ Strategic Space Initiative (aka Star Wars). Since 1996, Eastlund served as CEO and president of Eastlund Scientific Enterprises Corporation. The company boasts on its website that it specializes in "weather modification" and "tornado modification" among other high-tech services.

Halliburton and the army seem irreparably linked, from the war in Iraq to a disaster in the Gulf. Numerous sites claim that the delay in Louisiana was caused by the Feds (Bush team) demanding Federal control of the rebuild before they would go into help at the sites.

FEMA was turning away the Red Cross, and holding back other aid agencies. WHY? The following week we learned that a contract for clean up was soon given to Kellog, Root & Brown the Halliburton owned subsidiary working extensively in Iraq (rebuilding oil fields).

Yep when the army controls the weather and Halliburton does the clean up you can expect to be at war and have a lot of bad weather for some time to come.

War on Terror Should Start at Home

One has only to look at the infamous School of Americas to see where terror grows. Certainly the USA is not the only country perpetuating terror on the world, but the money trail and historical record of the country and the existing president is substantial.

Every year the USA publishes a list of human rights abuses by other countries (of course) - and this same report completely ignores the U.S.A.

Perhaps it is time the WORLD completed a report on terrorism so we can point out who funds it, trains it and continues to support it while claiming to be at war against it. Then again the victims of cancelled funding in New Orleans provide ample testimony to the care Americans can expect from this corporate government.

World War II was the "good war". After that conflict, most Americans believed that US intentions in the world were noble -- the US was the punisher of aggression and a warrior for freedom. This image was for generations of Americans the measure by which they judged their country in world affairs. The war in Vietnam ended the illusion that America was always on the "right side". Today, America's image as a defender of democracy and justice has been further eroded by the School of the Americas (SOA), which trains Latin American and Caribbean military officers and soldiers to subvert democracy and kill hope in their own countries.Founded by the United States in 1946, the SOA was initially located in Panama, but in 1984 it was kicked out under the terms of the Panama Canal Treaty and moved to the army base at Fort Benning, Georgia. Then-President of Panama Jorge Illueca called it "the biggest base for de-stabilization in Latin America," and a major Panamanian newspaper dubbed it " The School of Assassins." Today, SOA instructors and students are recruited from the cream of the Latin American military establishment. The School trains 700-2,000 soldiers a year, and since its inception in 1946, more than 60,000 military personnel have graduated from the SOA.If the SOA concentrated its training on protecting country borders from foreign aggression or safeguarding citizens from invasion by outside enemies, it would be considered an exemplary institution, worth the cost of American tax dollars and US prestige. But, the SOA has very different goals. Its curriculum includes courses in psychological warfare, counterinsurgency, interrogation techniques, and infantry and commando tactics. Presented with the most sophisticated and up-to-date techniques by the US Army's best instructors, these courses teach military officers and soldiers of Third World countries to subvert the truth, to muzzle union leaders, activist clergy, and journalists, and to make war on their own people. When they return to their home countries, graduates of the SOA hold a rather unique and peculiar view of their countrymen. They look upon priests, social workers, journalists, and liberal intellectuals, not as assets to their societies, but as dangerous subversives, working to undermine the system that keeps these soldiers, army officers, and their sponsors in power. Graduates of the SOA have been among the most repressive tyrants in Latin America, and their actions have been some of the most cruel and violent. In El Salvador, in 1989, a Salvadoran army patrol executed six Jesuit priests as they lay face-down on the ground at Central America University. According to the United Nation's Truth Commission Report on El Salvador in 1993, 19 of the 27 officers who took part in the executions were trained at the SOA. In 1990, in El Salvador, populist Archbishop Oscar Romero was assassinated. Three-quarters of the Salvadoran officers implicated in the killing were trained at the SOA. Roberto D'Aubuison, the late leader of El Salvador's Death Squad, was implicated in the plot to assassinate Archbishop Romero. He also participated in numerous murders, including a massacre in the village of El Mazote, where more than 900 men, women, and children were killed. He graduated from SOA as well.

In Columbia, a 1992 human rights tribunal cited 246 officers for crimes against the people of Columbia. 105 of the officers were trained at the SOA. In Panama, ex-dictator Manuel Noriega, formerly on the CIA payroll, graduated from the SOA. He is now in a US prison, convicted of trafficking in drugs.In Guatemala, a country of 10 million, the indigenous Mayan population of 6 million have endured the greatest suffering in Latin America. During more than 30 years of civil war, tens-of-thousands have been slaughtered, with the total killed estimated to exceed 200,000. Most of the ranking generals involved in the numerous coups and acts of terror and murder during this period were trained at the SOA. In the 1970s and early 1980s, in Guatemala, thousands of political activists and opponents of government policies were assassinated. General Manuel Antonio Callejas y Callejas, Chief of Army Intelligence at the time, was cited by the UN as the individual responsible for most of those murders. He graduated from the SOA. One of the most vicious tyrants in recent Guatemalan history is Jose Efrain Rios Montt. General, dictator, and a former president from 1982-83, Rios Montt was proud of his political philosophy of "beans for the obedient; bullets for the rest". He was also a graduate of the SOA.The impact of SOA graduates on Latin American freedom has been devastating. Armed with sophisticated training, modern weapons, and up-to-date techniques of control and surveillance, graduates of the SOA have terrorized their own countrymen for a generation. In the name of its citizens and using American taxpayer dollars, the United States, the most-democratic of countries, has for decades been training some of the most anti-democratic leaders in the world. Administrations that have decried terrorism abroad, have encouraged terrorists right here at home -- at the SOA. Our country, for generations, a beacon of liberty and democracy to the world, should play no part in subverting democracy and killing hope in other countries. Americans who condemn world terror should condemn just as strongly America's training of Third World terrorists. It is time for all of us to demand that the School of the Americas be closed.

While it is important to understand the Bush family relationship to the Saudis, it is also critical to comprehend the depth of involvement the Bush family, in particular, has with the American pharmaceutical, oil, and war manufacturing industries.

Look no further than the Carlyle Group to find a retirement home for former British Prime Ministers, and American former Presidents, complete with a cadre of former ambassadors,senators, or congressmen. In the days when ethics played a part in statesmanship this would have been called "conflict of interest." Instead George H.W Bush served as an agent for Carlyle to bring the Saudi Royal family and the Bin Laden Group into their fold. In fact on the morning of 9/11 George Senior was having breakfast with the Carlyle Group at the Ritz Carleton which included Salem Bin Laden, Osama's younger brother. Carlyle is a firm heavily vested in the military industrial complex and more recently in power grids and transmission line companies.

Shortly after 9/11 George Junior escorted 300 Saudis from the country (while airspace was closed to everyone else) - refusing FBI or CIA access to the Saudis for interrogation. When the Senate requested the flight records - the White House classified the documents. So we cannot even compare those records with the FBI WATCH LIST and see if anyone escorted from the country was on an FBI WATCH LIST.

THIS is the man who says he will now investigate himself for criminal negligence (I trust) in the non-response to a Category Five storm which everyone in the world knew was coming and could have been planned for - had local funding not been CUT - and FEMA funding devastated.

The Carlyle Group


Alfred Mendes looks at a single US investment corporation and asks some pertinent questions about democracy, terrorism and power.

It is quite extraordinary, and not a little frightening, how little attention is paid to the unexpressed aims of Corporate America in its on-going act of achieving global economic and political domination. Whereas its expressed aims, such as promoting a ‘new’ and ‘humanitarian’ world freed of ‘terrorism’, are constantly propounded in both print and speech, the causal problems underlying these recent crises (of which ‘terrorism’ is the most prominent) are not being examined rationally. That Americas’ expressed aims are false can be readily proven: (1) financed to the tune of $2 billion and armed by the USA, its NATO ally, Turkey, has been ‘ethnically cleansing’ its Kurdish minority for the past decade & a half - within view, as it were, of a US Intelligence Base just outside Diyarbakir - while it, the USA, has been bringing its ‘humanitarian values’ to the Balkans; (2) those two paradigms of ‘terrorism’ - Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein - could not have achieved power without the active assistance of the USA.

To understand more clearly the role being played by this superpower, it is first necessary to accept the fact that the US Administration is - and has been for decades - under the control of its capitalist corporations, a group wielding enormous power due to its vast industrial capacity and world-wide capital investments - to say nothing of its cabalistic, cohesive nature. To confirm this, one has only to scan the lists of the top individuals in both the US Administration and the corporate boards over the past few decades to see the close linkage between the two. As for the post of President: this is an executive post carrying such autocratic power that the Corporate Establishment ensures that ‘their man’ is elected. This election is, in effect, an auction, as exemplified by the fact that oil companies contributed $1.8 million towards George W. Bush’s campaign in the year 2000 - thirteen times as much as they gave his opponent! Again, the Electric utilities donated $447,000 to Bush, but only $65,000 to Al Gore, etc. And, inasmuch as the President-to-be appoints administrators who are, in effect, the policy-makers, the Corporate Establishment - as the highest bidder in the ‘auction’ - ensures that it is well-placed in the seat-of-power. Is this the form of democracy the Athenians had in mind!?

The following recent news report epitomises this close bond between government and business concisely: on the 27th September ‘01, the Wall Street Journal revealed that the bin Laden family firm in Saudi Arabia was a major investor (1 of 450 such investors) in the prestigious American investment firm, the Carlyle Group, and that George Bush Snr., on behalf of this group, had brokered the deal. The report added that the FBI had subpoenaed the bin Laden family’s bank records, there being doubt that the family had broken all ties with Osama. This calls for a closer examination of the Carlyle Group in order to unearth more germane facts., and an efficient way to accomplish this is to begin by listing the senior officers of the company - with very brief (incomplete) C.V’s added. (It should be noted here that the European Chairman is John Major, the ex-British PM, but he warrants no further mention in this article as he is of little import to the subject in hand).

Chairman: Frank C. Carlucci His ties with the US Administration go back to the ‘70’s, (Dept. of Health, Education & Welfare, etc.) and - more importantly - includes stints as Deputy Director of CIA (‘78 - ‘81) under Carter; Deputy Secretary of Defense (‘81 - ‘82) and National Security Adviser (‘87 - ‘89) both under Reagan.
Senior Counselor: James Baker III. Chief of Staff (‘81 -‘85), and Secretary of Treasury (‘85 - ‘89) both under Reagan; and Secretary of State (‘89 - ‘93) under Bush Snr.

Broker: George Bush Snr. Director of CIA (‘76 - ‘77) under Ford; Vice-President (‘81 - ‘89) under Reagan; and President (‘89 - ‘93).

The Corporate Establishment can readily be portrayed as a complex web of interlinked companies and executives, and the fact that Carlyle holds ownership stakes in 164 companies and ranks as the eleventh largest defence contractor in the US further emphasises its pre-eminence within this web, and the somewhat disproportionate links to the intelligence services listed above is reflected in its ownership - via BDM International - of the CIA-front company, Vinnell Corp., which has been operating under contract in Saudi Arabia since 1975. It is of pertinence to note here (if only to stress the close relationship between the Administration and the corporate establishment) that BDM’s President & CEO is one Philip Odeen who served as Chairman of Clinton’s National Defense Panel. Another filament of this web: in 1990 George W. Bush - now President - was on the board of directors of one of Carlyle Group’s subsidiaries, Caterair, an airline catering company.

It needs little delving into the background of the senior Carlyle officers listed above to trigger memories of events that have a direct bearing on today’s crisis of ‘terrorism’. (1) One week after his inauguration as President, and with Vice-President Bush Snr. by his side, Reagan called a cabinet meeting to discuss ‘terrorism’ - the overthrow of Iran’s Shah by the Ayatollah Khomeini still fresh in memory. As reported by Bob Woodward in his book The Veil, Anthony Quaint, the State department’s expert on terrorism, stated at that discussion that “it’s possible for a terrorist group to strike directly at the United States in the United States. The United States is vulnerable”. Now, 20 years later, the US government can hardly claim they were not forewarned! (2) As reported by Leslie Cockburn in her book Out Of Control covering the Nicaraguan Iran/Contra crisis: while the notorious Lt. Col. Oliver North was serving “on the Interdepartmental Group on Terrorism and on the Terrorist Incident Working Group, both of which reported to the Crisis Pre-Planning Group and the Special Situation Group, both of which in turn shared the same chairman: Vice-President George Bush”, the US government was, at the same time, engaged in trading guns for drugs, as revealed by one of the pilots so engaged, ‘Mickey’ Tolliver, in a CBS interview in 1987 (Cockburn had worked for CBS since 1978). On one trip he had carried 28,000 lbs. of guns and ammunition to the Contra supply base in Honduras, and returned with a 25,360 lb. load of marijuana - landing at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida! (3) In the aftermath of the disastrous bombing of both the US Embassy and the US Marine Base in Beirut in ‘83, there ensued a spate of hostage-taking. America accused Iran of aiding the suspect ‘terrorist’ groups guilty of these activities. Result: America arranged for Israel to sell 508 TOW missiles to Iran in exchange for the release of the hostages! (4) In the aftermath of the Lockerbie bombing in ‘86, America for the first 2 or 3 years accused Iran (once again) and Syria of responsibility for the act - only to drop all accusations against them when it became necessary to co-opt Syria as an ally in the inevitable war against Iraq, the new ‘Satan’.

There were a number of other subsequent events of a similar ‘terrorist’ nature, and in retrospect, it is clear that America was using the term ‘terrorism’ in order to conceal their real aim, which was to achieve economic and political domination on a global scale - as expressed in the opening sentence of this article. This subject of terrorism is best treated by drawing attention to the crux of the problem - the inequity and bias inherent within the capitalist system itself, whereby a comparative few garner profit from the labour of many, inevitably fostering that most dangerous of emotions: frustration. Is not frustration the mother of terrorism? And would not the most rational means of solving this problem be to examine the source of this frustration? Which is precisely why America cannot afford to take this rational road: to do so would mean questioning the system itself - Mammon forbid! In view of the foregoing, is it not thus reasonable to harbour grave doubts as to the validity of America’s declared aim in this conflict with Afghanistan?

A further delving into the background of the listed Carlyle officers is called for here - and whom better to start with than its chairman, Carlucci. As noted in his C.V. above, he had strong ties with the intelligence agencies, as confirmed by Philip Agee in his book, “On The Run”: “Carlucci had been on the team in Kinshasa when Patrick Lumumba was assassinated and the Congolese revolution stopped. Then he worked four years in Brasil following the military coup in 1964”. Agee was in Portugal not long after the April ‘75 coup by the communist-led Armed Forces Movement had overthrown the dictatorship of Salazar - as a result of which, President Ford had sent Carlucci as ambassador to Portugal. As Agee writes: “If the new ambassador, Frank Carlucci, was any indication, the Ford administration was determined, both alone and in concert with European allies to stop the revolution”...”He would be in charge of coordinating all efforts to ‘save Portugal’”. But more pertinent to his role in later years were the many directorships he held, among which were General Dynamics, Westinghouse Electrics, the Rand Corp. - and Ashland Oil (among others). He had also been a college classmate of Donald Rumsfeld, the present Secretary of Defense. Perhaps his most interesting relationship was with the very right-wing Dr. Constantine Menges of the Hudson Institute who had worked for Carlucci in the Department for Health, Education and Welfare. As Bob Woodward revealed in The Veil: “ In a 1980 article (The New York Times), Menges stated that events in Iran, Afghanistan and Nicaragua marked a ‘turning point in the invisible war between radical and moderate forces’ for control of oil (this author’s italics), the Middle East and Central America”. This was a significant slip-of-the-tongue on the part of Menges, and was to prove correct. After the collapse of the USSR, the American oil companies wasted no time in moving in on the Caucasian oil & gas fields (see author’s article “The Thin End Of The Wedge). In ‘81, William Casey, Director of CIA, made Menges Intelligence Officer for Latin America, a position he held until, In 1983, and on the advice of Carlucci, he was transferred to the National Security Council, under Reagan.

It is of significance to note that Carlucci was not the only one of the three Carlyle officers covered by this article to be connected to an oil company (he was chairman of Ashland Oil); Bush Snr., had founded the oil drilling firm, Zapata; and last - but not least - Baker is on the board of the Azerbaijan International Oil Co. (AIOC) as legal representative, which should please him as his good friend from the days of the USSR, Eduard Shervardnadze, is President of neighbouring Georgia. It is necessary to note here that, contrary to the generally accepted belief that the US troops recently deployed in Uzbekistan was the first such deployment on ex-Soviet soil, Reuters reported, in June of this year, 2001, that 4000 troops from eleven countries (including the USA) held NATO exercises near the Georgian port of Poti on the Black Sea, and were welcomed whole-heartedly by Shervardnadze, who stated that this was “confirmation of the readiness of our country to move towards deeper Euro-Atlantic integration”, This, from the man who was Foreign Minister of the USSR when it collapsed! (Any causal linkage here?).

The filaments of the oil web are too numerous to be covered in detail in an article of this length, but, with the AIOC fresh in mind, a few more examples of the role played by oil companies in the sensitive area of the Caucasus region would not be amiss. As its name implies, AIOC is an Azerbaijan consortium - in which US oil companies hold a 40% stake. Two of these companies are Amoco and Pennzoil. (1) Zbigniew Brzezinski, who had been National Security Advisor to Jimmy Carter, was on Amoco’s payroll, and (2) General Brent Scowcroft, who had been National Security Advisor to George Bush Snr., was on Pennzoil’s payroll. But, had not the US Congress in ‘92 passed Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act to restrict US assistance to Azerbaijan until such time as it, Azerbaijan, stopped its offensive and adopted a more ‘humanitarian’ attitude to its neighbours, Armenia and Ngorno Karabahk? The answer is found in the short paragraph of the Act which reads: “Section 907 does not prevent Trade and Development Agency guarantees and insurance for US firms, or Foreign Commercial Service operations, or the activities of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and the Export-Import Bank. Thus, US businesses are not placed at a competitive disadvantage.” (authors’ italics).

1997 saw the formation of the Central Asia Gas Pipeline consortium (Centgas) with the intention of running a 790-mile-long pipeline from the gas fields of Turkmenistan through neighbouring Afghanistan to Multan, in Pakistan (at a cost of $1.9 billion) - with a possible future extension to New Delhi, in India (cost: $600 million). This was a project under the control of the California oil company, UNOCAL, who held the controlling stake of 46.5% in the consortium. At the instigation of UNOCAL, a Taliban ministerial delegation held talks in Washington with the US Undersecretary of State, Karl Underforth, in December 1997 to discuss this pipeline project - but, due to the ever-worsening instability in Afghanistan, UNOCAL aborted the project in December 1998. However, as reported in the Pakistani publication “Business Recorder” in 2000, the remaining members of Centgas - Delta Oil Group of Saudi Arabia, the Turkmenistan government, Indonesian Petroleum, ITOCHU of Japan, Hyundai of South Korea and the Crescent Group of Pakistan - had not given up hope. The crucial point to note here is that, without the participation of an American oil partner such a project is impossible, and given the very influential clout carried by the oil industry in the US Administration (as noted above), it is reasonable to assume that these considerations would have been in the forefront of the minds of the US government officials, and would thus have played a crucial role in determining America’s response to Afghanistan in the aftermath of the WTC bombing. This attack, in affect, had supplied the US with a convenient reason for taking control of Afghanistan under the pretext of destroying ‘terrorism’ when, in fact, already well-ensconced in the nearby ex-Soviet republics of the Caucasus region, this was merely another step in Corporate America’s inexorable advance eastwards in its search for more lucrative markets - for its oil industry in particular.

This poses the obvious, crucial question: which of the two protagonists in this struggle is the real terrorist?

Bush - Didn't Take Storm Predictions Seriously

Let's just cut to the chase and spell out what really has gone down in the Gulf states in the face of a predicted disaster. The path is so similar to 9/11 and the predicted warnings this criminal administration received - one is struck by the blithe, seemingly unaccountable reach of this
group. As Bush strolls about kissing survivors on the head and promising that they will have "zero tolerance for anyone trying to steal a loaf of bread or bottle of water..." after waiting FOUR days with neither.

In 2001, the Federal Emergency Management Agency ranked a major hurricane strike on New Orleans as "among the three likeliest, most catastrophic disasters facing this country," directly behind a terrorist strike on New York City.

Yesterday, disaster struck. One of the strongest storms in recorded history rocked the Gulf Coast, bringing 145 mph winds and floods of up to 20 feet. One million residents were evacuated; at least 65 are confirmed dead. Tens of thousands of homes were completely submerged. Mississippi's governor reported "catastrophic damage on all levels." Downtown New Orleans buildings were "imploding," a fire chief said. Oil surged past $70 a barrel. New Orleanians were grimly asking each other, "So, where did you used to live?" While it happened, President Bush decided to ... continue his vacation, stopping by the Pueblo El Mirage RV and Golf Resort in El Mirage, California, to hawk his Medicare drug benefit plan. On Sunday, President Bush said, "I want to thank all the folks at the federal level and the state level and the local level who have taken this storm seriously.” He’s not one of them. "How Not to Prepare for a Massive Hurricane," by President Bush, congressional conservatives, and their corporate special interest allies. SLASH SPENDING ON HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS IN NEW ORLEANS:

Two months ago, President Bush took an ax to budget funds that would have helped New Orleans prepare for such a disaster. The New Orleans branch of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers suffered a "record $71.2 million" reduction in federal funding, a 44.2 percent reduction from its 2001 levels. Reports at the time said that thanks to the cuts, "major hurricane and flood protection projects will not be awarded to local engineering firms. ... Also, a study to determine ways to protect the region from a Category 5 hurricane has been shelved for now." (Too bad Louisiana isn't a swing state. In the aftermath of Hurricane Frances -- and the run-up to the 2004 election -- the Bush administration awarded $31 million in disaster relief to Florida residents who didn't even experience hurricane damage.)

Now watch him grandstand kissing children, while Halliburton and their subsidiaries (all registered offshore of course) slather over the kick backs and the rebuild that will likely be directed their way. Of course young American (poor) boys and girls will be enlisted to aid the
vanguished and help the poor by joining the military...only to be swept off to Iraq to be part of the Halliburton Bechtel cannon fodder.

And the paid off corporate media of America plays right along, pretending they are mirroring decency, kindness and character.

Well the problem mr. bush and his media have now is that, like most of the world and black America....the rest of America is waking from the storm of propagandized pap..and they no longer take anything Bush says or does as anything but spin.
